The Quarters at Middlehurst Station is one of New Zealand's few remote High Country stays, and one of its finest. Nestled within sight of Middlehurst's prominent Mt Lookout, and a short walk from the Awatere Valley’s braided rivers. The Quarters offers a comfortable and stylish getaway retreat on an authentic New Zealand working sheep station. Fly in for a half-day experience or stay overnight - or longer - to enjoy everything Middlehurst Station has to offer.

Accomodation

The Quarters boasts 10 spacious private rooms, each with sliding doors that open up to panoramic mountain views. Finished with luxury linen, underfloor heating and unlimited Wifi, our rooms can be either super king or twin share configuration.

Also available is our 2 bedroom apartment with a kitchenette and living-space, for self catering and entertaining (sleeps up to 4 guests).

Dining

The Macdonald family and The Quarters’ Private Chef are passionate about providing a special dining experience unique to Middlehurst Station. We serve premium produce, sourced from the farm and local producers, and serve our guests from an open plan kitchen in a luxurious family style setting.

On-site activities include; 4WD Station tours, wood fired hot tubs, sheepdog demonstrations, cooking classes, team building challenges, corporate events and more.

Hot Tubs

A natural spring at the base of Mt Lookout provides gravity fed water to wood fired hot tubs only meters from The Quarters accommodation. Positioned separately and screened, they allow privacy and total relaxation for our guests to enjoy soaking in pure mountain mineral water.

4WD STATION TOUR

Take a tour of Middlehurst Station in a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Guided by a family member, you will learn about the area and the high country way of life. Rich in history, regenerative farming practices, and picturesque backdrops, this tour is like no other. Stop for lunch at one of the historic ‘Musterers Huts’, and keep an eye out for wildlife grazing on the mountains.

WOOLSHED TOUR AND SHEEP DOG DEMONSTRATION

Middlehurst Station supplies fine merino wool to national and international clothing brands such as Ice Breaker and Allbirds. On this tour you will see inside the Station Woolshed and get an understanding of our sheep shearing operations. Merino fleece will be on display to feel, and a shepherd with their team of dogs will give a demonstration of their expertise.

Our on-site Private Chef has 13 years experience working in acclaimed restaurants around the world. Our classes include; bread, lamb and pasta workshops + desserts. Mountain Biking

Mountain biking adventures at Middlehurst Station are a great option for outdoor fitness enthusiasts. Join an Awatere Valley local on an adventure through pastures, mountains and river beds. Tackle the vast and changing landscape, and then stop for a picnic under a shading willow tree. You are required to bring your own bikes required.
